The American Folk Art Museum, at the time it was built, was the first new museum to be built in New York in 3 decades - the last one being the Whitney. It was completed in 2001 and sat on a plot of two brownstones. A museum 30 metres long and only 12 metres wide and home to a vast collection of Folk Art.
The museum was bought by the MoMA in 2014 and to the disappointment of most, it was demolished in 2014 - nothing new has sat in its place since.
