WANG X HAYDENSHAPES

So as I was growing up I was always that tomboy girl who yearned to be Avril Lavigne; cruising down the road on a skateboard, with black and white check sweatbands on my wrists, and awful teen profanities written on my bagpack.

THE INSTALLATION FEATURES 5 MARBLE SURFBOARDS AND A MONOLITHIC WAVE SCULPTED FROM  BLACK SAND – THE MARBLE ARTWORK WAS DEVELOPED BY ALEX HIMSELF AND DIGITALLY PRINTED ONTO  SILK.”

Although I never became the cool Avril I hoped to be, my younger, better looking brother learned how to become the cool skater boy, whilst I struggled into my not-so-wetsuit and jumped into the Cornish sea with a surfboard every summer without fail. This is why the collaboration with Australian surf board brand HaydenShapes speaks to me beyond the fashionarchitecturelifesphere. They are creating a cool and unique persona for surf, drawing their inspiration from the sea and the surrounding environments.
